"No school tomorrow!"......

....we heard Lance scream from the other
room.

We knew that Fay was out there stirring
up trouble and we had been keeping a
close eye on her, but we NEVER imagined
how devastating she would be or that the
exclamation "No school tomorrow!" would
be said EVERY night all week long.

It was a very long week.

We went in to work on Tuesday and played
the "let's wait and see" game. Frank was sent
home shortly after arriving at his office. We
hung in there until 1:00 when the winds really
started to pick up. Then came the rain.

Fay made her way to Melbourne and just sat
on us and dropped almost 30 inches of rain in
just 3 days.

On Thursday we had to try to get to the office.
There was no way that my Sebring would have
made it through these puddles. The following
pictures are after a good amount had receded.

This is the intersection of Wickham & 192.

West Melbourne School of Science.

West Melbourne Post Office. This intersection
was completely impassable the day before.

This is Wingate. Where we live.

This is at the corner of our street. Most
of our sub-division was under water.

This is the front of our friend Dave's house.
Needless to say, he was a little nervous.

This is his back yard.

Everyone connected to me came through
Fay just fine, I wish I could say that for the entire county.

Back to school....

Monday, August 18th. They day that
ALL parents were looking forward to....

......the first day of school!

This was the first year that Lance
wanted to summer to continue forever.

I'm sure that he changed his mind

when he was back with his friends.

The safety patrol was on duty

from the moment that we arrived.

He had a great first day. (and he

lived through the day without video
games and T.V.)

Our final stop........

After we got the majority of our packing done, we
headed downtown to a bar that Michael had suggested
we try. We each had a drink and headed over to spend
a few hours with Janice.

When we arrived she had enough wonderful appetizers
to feed an army. Good thing we were hungry.

We had a few drinks.......

and talked about her life since Jim's passing.
It was really good to see her. We had a really nice visit.

Martha's Vineyard for the day.......

We took the Island Queen over to Martha's Vineyard
for the day. The sun was out and there was a great
breeze.

This is Janice's condo. She was out there taking

pictures of us as we passed by.

The "Heights" as we pulled out of the harbor.

This seagull flew along side of the boat for quite
a while, probably waiting for a snack.

There is a small area on the island with all of these
adorable cottages.

We went to the beer company for lunch. Some of their
beer specials are listed below including one named after
a lighthouse on the island.
Connie had New England Clam Chowder. She
said it was the best she'd ever had.

Frank had oysters at $2.45 a pop!!

Mr. No Meat had cheese sticks and fries.

We did a little more shopping and then headed back
to Falmouth to start packing.
What a fast week!

Bubbles..........

My mother bought Lance a container of bubble
stuff so he could play with Lucy.

She was cracking me up. She would jump for a
few bubble but mostly she just waited for them
to land on the ground and she would just walk
around and pop them with her nose.

Jimmy'z BLT.......

On Wednesday before we headed to the island, we
went to my friend Jimmy's restaurant for breakfast.

He is there 6 days a week, open until close and
on the 7th day he is there preparing for the following
week.

The food was fantastic!

I hope it is a HUGE success!!

A night out with my husband......

After spending the day with my mom, I met up
with Frank and we went into Woodshole for a few
few drinks and a little sight seeing.

This is Frank's favorite spot. Very old Cape Cod.
On our way back into town we found a new spot
called Grumpy's.......

and a new beer that was blueberry flavored.
It was surprisingly good.

We shot a horrible game of pool.

Then we headed to the beach.

This little sitting area is at the finish line of the
Falmouth Road Race.

Across the street was our destination.
The British Beer Company.
Frank had a Landshark and I had a Beach Bum Blonde.
We watched the Red Sox loose for the 3rd time that week
and headed back to the house.

Our shopping day......

On Tuesday my mom and I spent the day shopping
and visiting.
One of our stops was at the service center where she
volunteers one day a week. I collected an entire suitcase
of clothes to donate and brought them with me.

They had recently moved into a new building where
Ma had purchase a brick with my grandfathers name
and step-grandmothers name on it. It is part of the
walkway that leads to the building.

After clothes and jewelry shopping (I bought a

Cape Cod ring) we headed to the Flying Bridge
for a great lunch on the water.

They are famous for their onion rings so we

had to get some. They were awesome!

While we were having lunch the Island Queen went

by. It is the boat that we would be taking to Martha's
Vineyard the following day.

We really enjoyed our time together.

A day at the beach..........

On Monday we went to spend the day with my
friend Lisa, her husband Jimmy and son Zach.

Lance had never seen beaches that had jetties
and was thrilled with all of the "life" on and
around them.

This was a periwinkle that he name Pearle.
She spent the entire day with him.

Here is Zach after a trip to the ice cream man.
Yummy!

I have taken pictures of Florida feet and Caribbean
toe, here are the Cape Cod clams. (the water was freezing)

Beautiful views........

Frank was just hanging out.
The back ground of this picture reminds me of Jaws.

After the beach we went back to Lisa's for an
amazing dinner.

Jimmy picked flowers for our table from their yard.

Jack and Ziggy the new kittens.

Lisa has a huge, beautiful garden.

We were eating cucumbers right off the vine.

Another birthday cake! Carvel this time!

After a very enjoyable day, the boys sat down and
worked on a treasure hunt book.

I already miss everyone so much!

Nap time..........

This is Lucy's favorite nap spot because the
air conditioner hits right here.

After brunch on Sunday we went back to the house

to decide what we were going to do that day.

Lance and I were the only ones who decided not to
take a nap.

I want to play.....

Early one morning Lance was playing his "Dogs"
video game. In this game you actually buy dogs,
food and toys. You have to feed them, take them
for walks and train them.

Lucy became very interested when Lance was
teaching the dog to speak. She could hear the dog
but could not figure out where it was coming from.

It was very funny.

After the party.....

.....we went to Liam McGuire's. It is an Irish Pub
and restaurant.

Frank and Michael were trying to take over the world
or maybe just looking for hotties on Michael's I-Phone.

I was thrilled when I found out that Liam himself
would be entertaining that night.
He's on the far right.

We kept Ma and Connie out until 1:30 in the morning.

I sang a little song to Ma....... she asked me to stop.

Party time......

Saturday was the day we chose to celebrate my
birthday.
The weather was perfect and my mother had
done most of the work prior to our arrival, so
we decided to spend a couple of hours just hanging
around outside relaxing.

Lucy was hanging out with us.

We were going to have the party on the deck
but this day got up into the 90's so we opted
for the shade.

Per my mother's "tradition" a birthday cake is a must.

I wished to be 29.....for the 11th year in a row.

Janice spends her summer on Cape Cod so she
was able to join us. It was great to see her.

My Godmother Yvette and her husband Bob
were able to join us also. I didn't realize how
much I missed them until I saw them.

A Cape Cod vacation......

I went home to Cape Cod to celebrate my 40th birthday.

After a trip that seemed smoother than any that I have
ever taken before, we had a wonderful lunch with my
Mom and Dad and headed to an old fashioned 4-H fair.

We started with Frank awe struck when he saw this sign.

Then we were off to see the animals.

I think the interacting with the animals was Lance's
favorite part of the fair.

My Mom & Lance got along great!

We can't go to any type of fair without
Lance going on the big slide.
Then it was off to the ferris wheel.

After wondering around for a few hours it was
time to find a spot to sit to see the entertainment
for that evening.

The Village People!!! I laughed myself sick!

We only stayed for a few songs and then headed back
to the house to crash early since we had gotten up at
3:00 in the morning to head to the airport.
It was a good start to a great week.
